The Department publishes a number of reports, including its Annual Report and Accounts, which show how it is performing.

Business Plan

Capability Review

The Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) has published its Capability Action Plan for 2011-12. The Cabinet Office model of capability requires all government departments to assess their capability against the three criteria of Leadership, Strategy and Delivery. This report sets out where BIS is performing well, areas to develop, and an action plan for improving departmental capability.

Annual Report and Accounts

The 2010-11 Annual Report and Accounts were published on 18 July 2011.

For 2009-10 BIS published separate Consolidated Resource Accounts along with other information in the public interest. Between 2006-07 and 2008-09, BIS published a combined Departmental Report and Accounts in July.

Older Resource Accounts

Consolidated Resource Accounts for the DTI from 2003-04 to 2005-06 are available.

Autumn Performance Reports

Autumn Performance Reports are mid-year updates covering the Department's progress against our Departmental Strategic Objectives (DSOs), the Public Service Agreements (PSAs) for which BIS leads delivery, and value for money savings targets.

This is included as an annex to the Annual Report and Accounts.
