The UK Innovation Investment Fund

Science equipment photoThe Prime Minister announced on 29 June 2009 the creation of the UK Innovation Investment Fund (UKIIF) to invest in technology-based businesses with high growth potential. The new fund will focus on investing in growing small businesses, start-ups and spin-outs, in digital and life sciences, clean technology and advanced manufacturing.

  • UK Innovation Investment Fund Launches £125m Environmental Investment Fund

    The UK Innovation Investment Fund is off the ground with the first closing of the £125m Hermes Private Equity environmental innovation fund.

    It’s taken only 7 months for UKIIF to launch the first of two funds, the Hermes Environmental Innovation Fund, which has already raised £125m and will continue to seek further funding from investors.

Fund managers announced

  • 9 December 2009

    Delivering his Pre Budget Report to the House of Commons the Chancellor today announced the intention to appoint, subject to contract, Hermes Private Equity and the European Investment Fund as Fund of Funds Managers for the UK Innovation Investment Fund.

    The UKIIF will ensure that up to £325 million of new venture capital is available to invest in Britain’s businesses and start ups in key sectors (life sciences, clean technology, digital and advanced manufacturing) by early 2010. The announcement marked a key milestone in the development of the Fund.
