Civil service sickness absence figures

The Civil Service sickness absence figures have been announced by Written Ministerial Statement by Cabinet Minister Tom Watson. The full report can be found on the Civil Service website

DIUS was created after the period covered by these figures (2006) and therefore has not published separately. However, the average working days lost figures reported by the two former departments, DfES and DTI, from which DIUS was formed, benchmark favourably against the overall average working days lost for the civil service.

DIUS will fall into the small department grouping for future reporting ( 250 -1000 employees) and the Department will be working to ensure that its absence levels benchmark favourably against the lower average for this group.
