Science and Innovation White Paper
The White Paper, Innovation Nation, published on 13 March 2008, sets out the Government's aim to make the UK the best place in the world to run an innovative business or public service. It argues that innovation is essential to the UK's future prosperity and the ability to tackle major challenges like climate change, and that the power of Government spending must be harnessed to create demand for new innovative products and services.
Further detail on the consultation process which resulted in the White Paper can be found here.
Alongside the White Paper we are also publishing our response to the October 2007 Sainsbury Review 'The Race to the Top - a review of government's science and innovation policies' setting out the good progress we have made in implementing its recommendations.

Innovation Nation: Interactive - your say
DIUS has launched an interactive online version of the Innovation Nation strategy published earlier this year. Ian Pearson, Minister for Science & Innovation, invited contributors to the consultation and all those with an interest in innovation to provide further feedback on the executive summary of the white paper to help inform the implementation of the policy recommendations.
The interactive version of the document, developed using open-source technologies, enables readers to comment on the recommendations individually or by theme, and see the contributions others have made.
